About Changing Tides End of Life Care
Professional expertise. Heart wisdom. A guide for your path.
Meet Rachael
When a family receives a life-limiting diagnosis, the world can feel like it’s spinning. You have doctors for the body, but what about everything else? Your questions, your worries, your grief? You need a guide for the journey. I can help. My name is Rachael Paje, and I provide the steady presence, clinical wisdom, and emotional navigation families need to find peace in life’s final chapter.
I have over 20 years experience as a palliative care nurse, navigating the complexities of the healthcare system in B.C. ensuring patient safety and advocating for patient comfort.
However my deepest learning and understanding of this work didn’t come from a text book or a hospital ward. It came from home.
Having nursed my own husband through his end of life journey, I have sat in the chair you are sitting in now. I know the weight of the decisions, the physical exhaustion of caregiving and the quiet beauty that exists within the heartbreak. That lived experience transformed the way I provided patient care. It taught me that while medical care is vital, the spirit of the home and the dignity of “dying on one’s own terms” is equally critical.
I realized that my twenty years of medical expertise, combined with my training as an End of Life Doula offer something the traditional system often cannot; time, presence and a holistic path forwards.
With Changing Tides I believe that even in life’s final chapter, we are still living. My mission is to help you and your family find your way. Whether we are managing clinical needs in your home, navigating family conversations, or walking a favourite trail to process grief through nature, I am here to walk beside you and to handle the “how” of the dying process so that you can focus on the “who”- the person you love.
